MPs Want More Funds For Netball Team

MPs Wants More Funds For Netball Team

Members of parliament have requested the government to increase the Budget for the Netball team and the Sports Sector:

This as parliament was reorganizing she cranes for scooping silver in the Africa netball championship 2021 which took place in Windhoek, Namibia and they have also crowned the champions of the Africa Netball 2021 Pent Series having emerged victorious against five African Countries namely Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, and Kenya.

The motion was moved by Oyam District woman MP Santa Alum seeking improvement and increase of the annual budgetary allocations to the sports sub-sector in order to adequately facilitate and develop sports, throughout the country especially through schools’ talent development programs.

Hon Alum adds that there is a need to train more coaches and Umpires for the Netballgames and She says that the largely depends on the Coaches and Umpires from South Africa.

Nakaseke district woman member of parliament Sarah Najjuma says that there is unfair allocation of resources to the netball federation compared to the funds received.

She says that the Netball Federation should have an independent budget where money is deposited to the account just like it’s done with the Football Federation.

Arua woman MP Lilian Paparu applied to the government to operationalize the sports budget at the local Gov’t level. adding that there are untapped talents at the lower levels of the communities.

Rubaga North Member of parliament AbubakerKawalya said that it’s unfortunate that the government is not taking the sports sector as a priority in relation to funding it fully.

He faulted the government for failing to nature talent right from primary schools by not investing many funds in the sports sector.

Budiope East member of parliament in Buyende district who is also the FUFA president  Moses Magogo said that though there is the appropriation of 10 billion shillings to the football sports it’s not all isn’t due to budget cuts and the money goes to the National council of sports.

Rakai woman MP Juliet Suubi Kinyamatama raised concern over the discrepancy between the Ugx 10Billion given to the Uganda Football Federation and the Ugx 120 Million given to the Netball federation, therefore calling for equality from the Minister of Sports on the same.

The minister of state for sports HamisonObua said that his ministry submitted its budget to parliament worth more than 25 billion shilling but it differed for consideration.

The speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanyahasked the minister to resubmit the budget for perusal.
