MP Decries Lack of Ambulance in Kapchorwa.

Kween County legislator William Chemonges has tasked the Ministry of Health to urgently procure an Ambulance for Kapchorwa district General Hospital to save the lives of mothers.

Raising it as a matter of national importance on the floor of parliament, Hon Chemonges revealed that the hospital and district leadership have for the last five years been requesting an ambulance but all in vain yet they continue to follow up with the ministry of health.

“On the 29TH of December 2022, I managed to be with all the health workers of Kapchorwa hospital and I got shocked that the entire hospital which is currently acting as our regional hospital, serving over 500,000 people, the entire Sebei region has got no ambulance’’ Chemonges said.

He said he has seen all documents and correspondences which have been written by the leaders to the ministry for procurement of an ambulance in the past five years but all fall on deaf ears.

He added that in the past 3 months, 5 mothers with labor pain have lost their lives due to a lack of ambulances to rush them to hospitals from the villages.
