Pressure continues to mount on the minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Nobert Mao after president Yoweri Museveni disowned his peaceful transition Agenda which he has been claiming to be Championing in government.  The chairperson of the DP steering committee Michael Lulume Bayiga has tasked Nobert Mao to apologize to the public and Resign as President General of the Democratic Party for hoodwinking the nation.

The feud between the two factions of the Democratic Party that broke up following a cooperation agreement between Nobert Mao’s led DP and NRM has taken another twist, with the chairperson of the DP steering Committee Lulume Bayiga demanding resignation and an apology from the minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs after his transition agenda was disowned by president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

During an exclusive interview with the Keyan media KTN, Museveni trashed Mao’s claims of championing a peaceful transfer of power in the NRM  government, saying it was not part of the agreement. Now Bayiga has tasked Mao to make public the controversial cooperation agreement so DP members understand what is in the package.

While Addressing a presser in Kampala over DP’s MOU with NRM, Lulume disclosed that the new revelations leave Mao with no option but to apologize to the country and the party, having hoodwinked members of the party that they were to get several fatty job appointments in government after the pact.

DP members of Parliament claim they have discovered that Mao’s appointment as a Minister of Justice was to consolidate NRM’s support in Acholi but not in the interest of the party.

In his recent tweet, Mao accepted that he didn’t discuss the details of the transition. but it’s better to plan for it rather than be plunged into it.
