Minister of state for Northern Uganda and also Zombo district woman MP, Grace Kwiyucwiny is calling upon communities in the region to prepare to get involved in the local council elections.

Kwiyucwiny says that preparing early enough will help candidates to stand up for various posts.

She says that the nature of elections which is lining behind nominated candidates may be challenging however, people should consider voting in who are capable people that Deliver services to the communities.

Recently the electoral body released a program for elections of administrative units at village and parish level plus women councils and committees.

According to the statement issued by the commission chairperson Simon Byabakama ,update of village registers takes place on June 22 to 25, nominations of candidates for local council one chairpersons will be July 4th to 5th and campaigns will begin on July 6 to 9th.Polling date July 10.

Polling date for women committees is set for July 23, voting of 5 members of village women committee takes place on July 3 and at sub county level voting will be on August 13.
