In a bid to improve agriculture in Uganda,10 youth Ugandan farmers are to be selected to travel to Germany for an exchange programme which will last for three months.
Revealing
this at a press conference today in Kampala, the director strategic partnership
at Uganda national farmers federation, Humphrey
Mutaasa says, only youth engaged in agriculture production are eligible for
the exchange programme that will see 10 German youth farmers come to Uganda in exchange.
The
initiative championed by young farmers’ federation of Uganda is intended to entice
youth to love farming which is the back bone of the country’s economy.
Meanwhile,
the national coordinator young farmers’ federation of Uganda, Kabiito Denis
notes that only the selected 10 youth farmers will travel to Germany where they
will visit a number of selected farms to take lessons which they will bring
back to better their practice.
But the
federation urges applicants to take chance of the two weeks available to apply
at a fee of UGX.250,000.
