  • Oulanyah Died of Multiple Organ Failure – Aceng.

The Minister of Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng has revealed that the immediate cause of death of  the former Speaker Jacob L’Okori Oulanyah, was  multiple organ failure.

The minister presented a report on Oulanyah’s health during a special parliamentary sitting to honour the former speaker.

In the Oulanyah’s postmortem report which the minister of health Dr Jane Ruth Aceng read to parliament today, Oulanyah succumbed to multiple organ failure . She noted that the liver started failing while he was in Uganda and the lungs had collected  fluids.

Aceng said that Oulanyah was diagnosed with cancer in 2019 following a swelling on the neck. He sought medical attention in Germany  where cancer was confirmed.

She added that he visited several hospitals over  but due to the challenges during the lockdown and during the elections, he was not able to receive the necessary treatment in the hospital.

On 23 January 2022, he was admitted to Mulago for two weeks and during that time, he was being prepared to travel to get gene therapy treatment known as the CAR T- Cell which did not require more chemotherapy and had already suppressed the bone marrow,” she said.

He had multiple bacteria infections and viral infections which were discovered in Seattle.
