EALA Speaker pays courtesy call on 1st Vice President Of Republic of South Sudan in Jub

EALA Speaker, Rt Hon Martin Ngoga who is in Juba, Republic of South Sudan, Tuesday, held discussions with high ranking government officials reiterating the Assembly’s hand in glove support with the Partner State as it continues with the peace revitalization talks.

The EALA Speaker paid a courtesy call on the 1st Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan, Lt. Gen Taban Deng Gai at his offices in Juba. The 1st Vice President said the Republic of South Sudan was committed to embracing peace and said home-grown solutions were vital and necessary.  The Vice President however lauded the role of regional initiatives saying the current presence of Rwandan Peace Keepers and that of the Ethiopian counterparts had made significant contribution in improving the situation.

The EALA Speaker Rt Hon Martin Ngoga remarked that EALA stood in solidarity with the Republic of South Sudan and urged delegates in the on-going revitalization talks in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to put the country first over personal gains.

The Speaker further stated that EALA would soon hold its rotational sitting in Juba as is the current practice and tradition of the Assembly.

“As part of our rotational principle of sitting, we shall definitely be coming to Juba given the fact that citizens are keen and ready to receive us”, the Speaker remarked

Rt Hon Ngoga also held talks with Speaker of South Sudan Transitional National Legislative Assembly, Rt Hon Anthony Makana, the Speaker of the Council of States (Senate), Rt Hon Joseph Bol Chan and the Minister for Industry, Trade and EAC Affairs Hon Moses H.A. Tiel in what was a busy day. Accompanying the Speaker were EALA Members, Hon Thomas Gatkek, Hon Kim Gai and the Senior Public Relations Officer, Bobi Odiko.
