Aringa MP- Calls for More Funds For Yumbe Regional Hospital

Aringa county Member of Parliament Brahan Ezama Siraj has urged the government to increase the budget for Yumbe district hospital following its upgrade to a regional hospital.

Hon Ezama says the hospital is still operating under the budget of a district hospital yet, it accommodates many people including refugees.

He adds that Yumbe hospital was elevated to regional hospital last year and to date, the hospital still operates on the budget of the district hospital.

He says some of the facilities like the oxygen plant are not there, in case of the covid virus engulfing the hospital will be overwhelmed.

Hon Ezama says patients come from the five districts in West Nile, which includes Maracha, Obongi, Koboko, Ajuman, and Yumbe, to the hospital yet facilities are not enough due to low budget.

He adds that  Yumbe hosts the biggest number of refugees in Uganda hence the need for more funding for the hospital.
