Uganda wins big in EAC inter- Parliamentary games.

Uganda has dominated and is poised to reclaim all titles in the ongoing 12th East African Community Inter-Parliamentary Games taking place in the South Sudan Capital of Juba.

Four days into the game, Uganda had over the weekend won major medals including Gold, silver and bronze among other medals.

Speaker of Parliament on Thursday last week led a delegation of Members of Parliament and staff to compete in the games that bring together Regional Assemblies and National Parliaments from across the East African Community.

In her remarks delivered at the opening ceremony, Speaker Parliament of the Republic of Uganda Anita Among stressed the need to widen, deepen and tighten the integration process that will strengthen the relationship among EAC member States and rekindle the integration aims.

‘’ The games play a fundamental role in enhancing interaction with members of the National Parliaments in the partner states as envisaged in article 49(2a) of the Treaty for the Establishment of East African Community,’’ She said.

She added that: ‘’ As this year’s theme focuses on Widening and Deepening Integration by increasing visibility to its citizens, such games enhance interaction with the citizenry of the partner states and as a mode of sensitization and popularizing the integration process.’’

Ms Among also acknowledged President Museveni, ¬¬ whose efforts under the available regional avenues, have ensured the South Sudan recovery from civil war to peace and stability including the creation of a unified army.

‘’President Museveni’s efforts have ensured a stronger EAC and enabled a conducive environment in S. Sudan under which the East African Parliament games have been hosted successfully until today.

The games have strengthened our relationship as East Africans and rekindled our integration aims.

Parliament of Uganda also acknowledges H.E President Museveni’s unwavering support during our participation in the Sports activities in South Sudan and for creating a suitable environment back home through which sporting talent/activities can prosper,’’ She said,

Team Uganda team is raising the stakes at the ongoing with a recent 4-1 win against Burundi in a just concluded football match.
In the athletics competition that took place yesterday, Uganda scooped 14 Gold medals,4 silver and 2 bronze.
Parliament of Uganda Basketball team also managed to win in Basketball (men) to a tune of 55-19 against Kenya.
