Dilapidated Roads & Power Connectivity high on Agenda Ahead of Museveni Visit to West Nile

Legislators from West Nile want President Museveni to address issues of dilapidated Road infrastructure, Power instabilities in the sub-region as he prepares to visit the region next month.

The president will be touring the sub-region in the second week of April in his campaign to mobilize the masses to embrace the Parish Development Program PDM.

The Publicist secretary for the West Nile Parliamentary caucus Dr. George Boka (MP Obongi County) says the people of the west Nile region anticipate the President to tackle issues of the poor road infrastructure in the region and delayed connection of the region to the national power grid.

“As leaders and people of the west Nile, we have high expectations in his visit. We expect him to appreciate the people for the support they have provided to NRM in the west Nile region.

In the 2021 general elections West Nile, gave NRM 72% of votes, whereas in the past West Nile was looked at as an opposition stronghold” Said Dr. Boka.

He noted that the President must tackle peace, security, and stability in the region, citing some pockets of insecurity especially along the borders, matters of land and environment, and especially the protracted Apaa land question.

“We would like the President to come clear on the impasse of Apaa land in East Madi Wildlife Conservation Area, ’He said.


Boka wants the President to guide people on wealth creation with proper policy guidance and necessary resources. That is backed by scaling and tooling of the citizens to have access to low-cost capital of the Parish development model program in order to achieve the intended objectives.

They also want the president to pronounce himself on the so many pending government assurances to connect the region to the national grid with the latest being March 31st.

The Maracha County Member of Parliament Denis Lee Oguzu notes that this will be a good opportunity for the people to interface with the president about the development of the region, especially electricity.
