Uganda Launches Women Online Business Platform


Uganda has joined other African countries to launch the 50 Million African Women Speak Networking Platform that connects and promotes businesses at regional level .

50 Million African Women Speak (50MAWS) is a digital platform in 38 African countries which is available via web and on mobile devices as an app aimed at empowering millions of women in Africa to start, grow and scale up businesses by providing a One-Stop for their specific information needs.

While launching the project in Kampala, the State Minister for Elderly and Disability Sarah Kanyike emphasized that the platform covers both informal and formal women entrepreneurs that are determined to start, manage and grow businesses through new online platforms as per the national development plan three.

Mary Makoffu, East African Community (EAC) Director Responsible for Social Centers says that the English and Swahiri languages that are used as communication tools on this platform will be translated into local languages like Luganda to ensure that local women enjoy the services on the platform.
