UBA Uganda Set to Dorminate Banking Industry

UBA UGANDA SET TO DORMINATE BANKING INDUSTRY

The United Bank for Africa (UBA) last week announced its new strategic positioning to achieve market dominance, in a press conference organised at Golden Tulip Hotel.
UBA started operations in Uganda 10 years ago and over the years and expanded to 11 branches, 1 RedShop and 12 ATMs. The bank has an extensive service offering that includes wholesale products, retail products and Digital products.

With a strategic goal to become a key player in the banking industry, UBA is leveraging its group strength to finance large ticket transactions in major sectors, the introduction of industry changing technological innovations and increasing convenience for customers through excellent service.

Speaking at the press conference, the UBA Uganda Managing Director/CEO Johnson Agoreyo said, “This is a new day for United Bank of Africa and it’s the time to reclaim our position in the Ugandan banking sector. We plan to introduce new products and services that will transform the industry and UBA. We are confident that with these developments and the customer at the center of it all. We shall achieve our goal of market Dominance.’

UBA Uganda for its retail offering, is focusing on an excellent customer experience, majorly targeting the youthful customers, with new products such as mobile banking, agency banking and Leo, the UBA Facebook banking assistant, a first in Uganda. For the wholesale customers, the bank has financial muscle of its large group to finance large ticket transactions and will design the products specific to the customer’s unique needs in sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture and oil and gas.

The bank has embarked on forming strategic partnerships with the various Ministries and departments of government, such as the Ministry of Finance and economic development, Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and fisheries and the Uganda Revenue Authority. UBA is keen to further contribute to the economic development of Uganda by financing key government projects.

‘United Bank for Africa is a Pan African Bank, with operations in 20 countries and 3 global financial centers: London, Paris and New York. It therefore has the capacity to be a leading bank in Uganda. We have the resources and the experience around the continent, to change the face of banking in Uganda,’ added, the Ramon Nasir, the UBA Group Head, Media Relations and External Relations.

UBA will also leverage fresh branding, media and communications to drive brand awareness and visibility for the its products and services and continue to reinforce its commitment to excellent services to its customers.
