Masaka Lcs Asked To Register Residents
In a bid to crack down on the growing acts of human slaughtering in the areas of Masaka, security has ordered all local council one chairpersons to register all residents and visitors for easy and proper identification of people.
The assistant RDC masaka Ahmed Katerega Musazi says, registration of residents has been complemented with, Mayumba kuumi and night foot patrols.
He further states that security has been beefed up in the area and 40 suspects have been arrested and seven of them have provided information that will help security get other culprits.
Currently 27 lives have been lost since the start of the panga welding slaughtering men camped in Masaka.
The murders which started in July this year as land wrangles have escalated to annonimus murders with no clear plan which security says such acts are aimed at tarnishing the image of the state.
But with the head of the armed forces Gen. Muhoozi pitching camp in the area, the RDC is hopeful the wrong elements are going to be cracked down.
This is the second time greater Masaka is experiencing such acts of panga murders with the first phase happening in Lwengo two years back.
