Campaign To Save Children From Online Sexual Abuse Launched

In a bid to wipe out online child sexual abuse in the country, government and child rights groups have launched a campaign seeking to stamp out online child sexual abuse which is on a rise in the country.

Speaking at the launch of the campaign today in Kampala, the director information security at NITA– Uganda Mangeni Arnold and Julius Torach the commissioner in the ministry of ICT are now urging Ugandans to report online child abuse cases through all available channels among the is the new website, stopit.ug.

They adds that children being the future of this nation, there is need for all citizens of sound mind to protect them from such harmful material.

According to Internet watch foundation (IWF) a UK based child rights monitoring group, notes that 2020 was a record breaking year in online child abuse recording 299,600 cases, which included tip offs from members of the public.
