Avoid Sectarianism, serve with integrity: Says Nankabirwa.
By Juma Nsubuga
The minister of Energy and Mineral Development Ruth Nankabirwa has appealed to all leaders in Uganda to serve with integrity and transparency.
Nankabirwa made this call while presiding over the 3rd graduation ceremony of Uganda Martyrs Seminary Namugongo at Namugongo Wakiso district.
While addressing hundreds of graduands, she noted that although the government has put in place different institutions to help Ugandans have integrity in service delivery, the country is still grappling with challenges of the integrity of the heart.
“President Museveni has created so many ministries including the ministry of guidance, internal affairs, Ethics and integrity, and directorate of government among others but it’s sad that Uganda still faces challenges of integrity” the worried minister noted.
She added that despite the increased number of churches in the country with almost more than one church per village, challenges have continued to escalate. She concluded that leading people with integrity of the heart is the only solution for the challenges faced in the world.
Nankabirwa also cautioned graduands against sectarianism. “You need skillful hands when you deal with people. Sometimes leaders exhibit sectarianism and lack of sensitivity to issues concerning community” she noted,
Meanwhile the Bishop of Mityana Diocese Rev-Dr James Bukomeko who represented Rt Rev Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira the chairman governing council of Uganda Martyrs Seminary Namugongo also warned graduands against opposing GOD’s word.
“Today you are graduating but the big task ahead of you is to follow what Jesus is instructing you to do. Do not do the opposite of GOD’s Word. You are unlucky that your graduation has come at a time when the World is mixed up with false teaching like it’s okay for same-sex to get married, corruption is a choice and immorality is everywhere” Bukomeko remarked.
Over 200 Graduates have been awarded certificates and Diplomas in serious disciplines including Theology, Business Administration and Management, Guidance and counseling, Christian Ministries, Child Development, and Children ministries among others. 55.35% of graduands were Female while 44.65% are Male.
